As a result, to balance the books, Osborne now has to pull off a spending squeeze without any equivalent in peacetime.

The slowdown in spending now needed is way bigger than we experienced under the IMF bailout and Mrs Thatcher's first administration.

Even as Tony Blair thinks joining the euro is a positive step for the UK. Once rabid europhiles are changing their tune so fast you can smell the rubber burning.

Mrs Thatcher had emerged as the biggest obstacle to the next great leap forward in their slow-motion coup d'etat, the Maastricht Treaty, creating the European Union and the single currency.

Following her ambushing at a European Council in October 1990, when she was outnumbered 11 to one, the trap was sprung. An alliance between the European elite, led by Jacques Delors, and our own Tory Europhiles, led by Geoffrey Howe and Michael Heseltine, brought her down within weeks.

They had disposed of the greatest political obstacle to the onward march of their project just as ruthlessly as they were later to brush aside all those referendums expressing the objections of the French, the Dutch and the Irish to their Constitution. The one thing for which there has never been any place in their grand design is democracy.

Andrew Gowers urged Britain to join the euro. Now the former Financial Times editor admits he was wrong and explains why the currency could destroy the peace and prosperity it was meant to create.

It amazes me that such clever fellows could have possibly thought that a one size fits all currency could have possibly worked for such divergent economy's as Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Germany. But if you push lavish salary's at the euro elite in Brussels they will surely put the telescope to their blind eye and see no danger whatsoever. What a pity its the poor workers in Greece Portugal Spain etc who are going to have to pay a terrible price for this fiasco.

Thatcher: "The greatest issue in this election, indeed the greatest issue before our country, is whether Britain is to remain a free, independent nation state or whether we are to be dissolved in a federal Europe. There are no half-measures, no third ways and no second chances."

"A country which loses the power to issue its own currency is a country which has given up the power to govern itself. Such a country is no longer free. And it is no longer democratic - for its people can no longer determine their own future in national elections."

Thatcher was right then, proven right 25 years later. Right back in 1990, Mrs Thatcher foresaw with painful clarity the devastation it was bound to cause. Her autobiography records how she warned John Major, her euro-friendly chancellor of the exchequer, that the single currency could not accommodate both industrial powerhouses such as Germany and smaller countries such as Greece.

Germany, forecast Thatcher, would be phobic about inflation, while the euro would prove fatal to the poorer countries because it would “devastate their inefficient economies”.It is as if, all those years ago, the British prime minister possessed a crystal ball that enabled her to foresee the catastrophic events of the past year or so in Ireland, Greece and Portugal. Indeed, it is one of the tragedies of European history that the world chose not to believe her.

President Mitterrand of France and Chancellor Kohl of Germany dismissed her words of caution. And when Mrs Thatcher was driven from office in 1990, a crucial voice was lost, and a new consensus started to form in Britain in favour of the euro.This consensus stretched across the entire spectrum of the British establishment.

It took in Tony Blair’s New Labour and all of Paddy Ashdown’s Liberal Democrats. The CBI came out for the euro, and so did the trades unions. The Foreign Office was doctrinally pro-single currency. Leading businessmen, such as Peter Sutherland (chairman of BP and Goldman Sachs International) and the fashion-conscious Richard Branson were strongly in favour.

The Financial Times, a newspaper whose judgment has been wrong on every great economic issue of the last 40 years, was another supporter.All clever people but fatally flawed, like lemmings following a fashion, a crazy deadly fashion. The consequences could prove disastrous.

Last week, it looked as though the euro had been saved. Now, in the wake of Greek Prime Minister Papandreou's announcement of a national referendum on the bailout package for his country, the common currency is even closer to the abyss. Still, say German commentators, it may have been the right move.

The attempt to establish a single currency for sixteenseparate and quite different countries was bound to fail. The shift to asingle currency meant that the individual member countries lost the abilityto control monetary policy and interest rates in order to respond to nationaleconomic conditions. It also meant that each country’s exchange rate couldno longer respond to the cumulative effects of differences in productivityand global demand trends.

In addition, the single currency weakens the market signals that wouldotherwise warn a country that its fiscal deficits were becoming excessive.And when a country with excessive fiscal deficits needs to raise taxes andcut government spending, as Greece clearly does now, the resulting contractionof GDP and employment cannot be reduced by a devaluation thatincreases exports and reduces imports.

Why, then, is the United States able to operate witha single currency, despite major differences among itsfifty states? There are three key economic conditions—none of which exists in Europe—that allow the diverseU.S. states to operate with a single currency: labor mobility,wage flexibility, and a central fiscal authority.When the textile and shoe industries in America’snortheastern states died, workers moved to the West,where new industries were growing. The unemployedworkers of Greece, Portugal, and Spain do not move tofaster-growing regions of Europe because of differencesin language, history, religion, union membership, and soon.

Moreover, wage flexibility means that substantiallyslower wage growth in the states that lost industrieshelped to attract and retain other industries. And the U.S.fiscal system collects roughly two-thirds of all taxes atthe national level, which implies an automatic and substantialnet fiscal transfer to states with temporarilyfalling incomes.

The European Central Bank must set monetary policyfor the eurozone as a whole, even if that policy ishighly inappropriate for some member countries.

Whendemand in Germany and France was quite weak early inthe last decade, the European Central Bank reduced interestrates sharply. That helped Germany and France, butit also inflated real-estate bubbles in Spain and Ireland.

The recent collapse of those bubbles caused sharp downturnsin economic activity and substantial increases inunemployment in both countries.The introduction of the euro, with its implication ofa low common rate of inflation, caused sharp declines ininterest rates in Greece and several other countries thathad previously had high rates.

Euro Chaos

The newspapers have finally realised that it’s expensive to go abroad for a holiday, having had to pay 174 euros per liter for petrol in Greece I can vouch for that.

Greece, Ireland, Portugal have all been baled out by Germany and us, EU officials then bleat on about how the problem has been solved and that the euro is strong and will prevail, utter bollocks.

Now Italy is in trouble with 120% of GDP of debt, also Belgium and Spain. France is also teetering on the brink.

The EU President has issued a warning that the debt crisis is spreading, it fills you with confidence doesn't it. Now the share index has dropped alarmingly, no bloody wonder.

Where has all this money gone? I can understand why we are all in debt years of 120% mortgages and then borrowing money to put new kitchens in, but thats the least of all our problems. Who are the people who allowed all this to happen, well they are all very rich and have lots of power but they certainly are not doing there jobs properly.

South Korea has bought 25 tons of gold to bolster its financial position and we had a Prime Minister that sold 400 tons of our own gold at rock bottom prices.

America, its been suggested, has it in mind to sell some of its gold reserves to clear some of its debts, after all they have the largest gold reserves in the world.

Incidentally, where is Ed Balls now that America has higher unemployment and has had to drastically sort its huge debt problem out. Remember Balls was never off the news telling us that George Osborne should be spending more money to stimulate the economy just like the Americans.

Balls is silent. Thank goodness for very small mercies.

Just how wrong could they be.

The BBC regards itself as a politically impartial organisation, but their behaviour in the fallout of the Breivik atrocity shows them to be nothing other than the unapologetic propaganda arm of the hard Left and Islam.

There are atrocities and there are lesser atrocities in the peculiar thinking of BBC executives. After 9/11 they went to positively surreal lengths to disassociate Islam from terrorism. They publicly asked what we had done wrong to arouse such animosity and scoured the length and breadth of Britain to produce Muslims who would denounce the airliner attacks as terrible yes, but Islamic? No, no and no again.

Just two days after 9/11 those decidedly un-impartial bosses at the BBC contrived to fill a Question Time audience with a large number of handpicked haters of America who reduced Philip Lader, former United States ambassador to the Court of St. James, to tears as they chanted anti-American slogans while the BBC moderator remained outwardly impassive, but inwardly exultant.

Much the same happened after the Islamic transport bombings in London on 7 and 21 July 2005. Question Time was again the culprit, but this time they filled the audience with Muslims in numbers totally unrepresentative of their population share, or as the BBC so disingenuously put it:

“In order to ensure a range of voices on these issues, the studio audience contained a higher proportion of Muslims in the audience than in the population as a whole — around 15% — but the rest of the audience — around 85% — included representatives of a number of other different ethnic and religious groups, including Christian, Hindu, Sikh, African Caribbean, English, Irish, Kashmiri and Turkish.”

Although we should perhaps be grateful that a handful of English people and Christians were even allowed into the BBC studio, it seems clear that the purpose of the exercise was to excuse Islam for actions carried out in the name of Islam, whilst shutting down any robust criticism by making sure any potential critics were numerically outnumbered by a hostile majority.

This brings us to their rather different attitude in the wake of the Norway terrorist attack where the perpetrator — as described ad infinitum by the BBC — was a blue-eyed, blond-haired, right-wing Conservative/Christian fundamentalist. BBC newsreader Kate Silverton went the extra mile in ensuring a Norwegian interviewee repeated the word “Nazi” three times in his description of the physical looks of Breivik — just to make sure we all fully understood her subliminal point.

To the BBC, the EDL are the Nazis reborn and thus just waiting for any old excuse to go on a murderous rampage against all the non-Aryans in their midst. How they must have salivated at the thought of getting EDL leader Tommy Robinson onto Newsnight, where the poor little lamb would be soundly taken apart and exposed by their Attack-Dog-In-Chief, Mr Jeremy Paxman.

Unfortunately for the BBC, that turned out not be the case (see video courtesy of Vlad Tepes blog). Mr Paxman’s clear intention was not to discuss why Breivik had run amok, or how such an atrocity could be prevented in the UK, but simply to associate — by any dishonest means possible — Tommy Robinson and the EDL with Breivik.

It was hopelessly one-sided. The gurning, grimacing Paxman went down all sorts of disingenuous trails in his quest to expose Mr Robinson and the EDL as being somehow complicit in the actions of Breivik, but was bulldozed by the unflappable and indefatigable Tommy Robinson who took Paxman apart by utilising a number of things in his possession which Paxman had rather foolishly neglected to bring with him. Memo to Mr Paxman, they are called truth, facts and reality. Poor old Paxo, who admits to knowing little about Islam, was publicly shamed and ritually stuffed.

But his humiliation is no cause for celebration. The result of the interview is to a measure irrelevant; it was the intention of the interview which was both shameful and potentially calamitous in the way it deliberately skirted around a monumentally important issue in order to indulge in politically-driven character assassination.

Breivik was driven to mass murder in his own mind because he felt he was no longer represented by the political process; that his opinions either counted for nothing or that he could be jailed for even voicing them. The BBC is only too aware that Breivik’s views on Cultural Marxism, mass immigration and Multiculturalism are shared by millions of Europeans and Britons, yet they wish to shut these views down in the full knowledge it will drive future Breiviks to just such a course of murderous action.

If the BBC high command were not filled with aged yet adolescent Marxist Useful Idiots, Paxman might have raised and debated the following points with Mr Robinson:

1.		Do the white working class British feel alienated from the political process?
2.		How many share the political concerns of Anders Breivik?
3.		If it is a large minority, what can be done to politically salve them?
4.		If it is a majority, ditto the above.
5.		If nothing changes, could there be a similar incident in Britain?

Mr Paxman of course asked no such questions. So far removed from intelligent adulthood is he that when Mr Robinson warned that a similar atrocity could occur in Britain in the near future if we continue on our present route of Islamic appeasement, Paxman’s immediate response was to accuse Mr Robinson of making a threat!

Astonishing, absolutely astonishing. Here was a chance for the BBC to sit down and discuss a matter of supreme importance with an articulate and knowledgeable man who, unlike the gilded socialists, actually lives within a Muslim area, and who represents the views of millions of working class people the BBC class warriors profess to embrace, but unfortunately so rarely get to meet in the bijoux cafes and latte-drinking establishments of Islington, Hampstead and other such liberal environs.

There is nothing to be done with the BBC. They think the Religion of Submission is a religion of peace, and propagandise endlessly to that effect, whereas legitimate grievances exhibited by Brits who actually live cheek-by-jowl with Islam are not just wrong, but evil, and anyone who resents their country, culture and freedoms being incrementally wrested from them can be labelled as a conservative/right-wing racist, capable of murder.

Bear in mind the pre 9/11 mindset of a typical vowel-dropping, glottal-stopping, Champagne-quaffing, lobster-scoffing, intern-boffing BBC Class Warrior. They used to revere the working class and were constantly propagandising for equality for women and homosexuals (although not perhaps, Jews…) but then along comes Islam with its less-than-liberal approach to the objects of Socialist deification, and next thing you know they have disowned the working class and turned a blind eye to Islam’s appalling treatment of anyone not bearded, straight or male.

Why? What happened to them in order that this extraordinary moral and political hypocrisy could come about? My personal view is that the upper echelons of the BBC, who number only in low double figures, have betrayed their principles and their country at the altar of typically hypocritical Socialist greed and the petro-dollar.

Saudi Arabia is reputed to have invested $90 billion in the West. Ten-million quid each or even a hundred-million quid each to a handful of BBC higher-ups is peanuts to them. The BBC is the most influential media outlet in Britain, indeed the world, and is still viewed by millions of the less politically aware as a bastion of truth and decency. He who controls the BBC sets the agenda for much of the rest of the British media — and thus the dissemination (or non-dissemination) of information — so it is clearly in the interests of the Saudis to control the BBC.

How else to explain the BBC’s promotion of a religious/political ideology that should be repellent to their liberal views? Why did they appoint the controversial Muslim, Aaqil Ahmed, to head up the BBC Religious Broadcasting Department, when he had already been accused of making programmes with a pro-Islamic bias? Why does the BBC vilify the white working class as racist bigots? Why has Director-General, Mark Thompson omitted mass immigration from the public debate?

Why do National Union of Journalist guidelines seek to hide the truth in racial/religious attacks when the perpetrators are foreign, whilst committing to the destruction of “right-wing” racism? Why does the BBC require that Islam be treated more sensitively than any other religion? Why does the BBC promote Islam as a female-friendly religion of peace, but Christianity as a hot bed of imperialism, racism and murder? Why is the BBC so deeply and passionately enraged by the existence of Israel?

One could go on, but that is probably enough. Were Prime Minister David Cameron a proper Conservative, he would order his top policeman to take a long and detailed look into the bank accounts and holidaying habits of high-level BBC executives. That they have betrayed their country is unarguable, but it would be nice to know whether they had done it for money rather than through an adolescent and wholly misguided revolutionary fervour.

When Jeremy Paxman chose to take Tommy Robinson’s genuine fear of a Breivik style attack in Britain as a personal threat, he exposed his intolerant, elitist and bourgeois attitude to what he perceives as the inherently violent and racist lumpenproletariat. And he did much more than just that — he also shut down any debate on how such an attack could be avoided.

I have written before that a future religious civil-war will be preceded by tit-for-tat small scale atrocities, and now we have seen the start. By shamefully closing down a desperately needed debate in order to pursue perverse and politically-driven objectives, Paxman, the BBC and the entire political liberal/left have ensured the inevitability of potential carnage and thus have the blood of future innocents on their hands alongside those of the inevitable psychopathic perpetrator.

The parliamentary committee questioning Andy Hayman, John Yates and Peter Clarke seemed to me a parody of irreverence, Keith Vaz the chairman who has been investigated and probed more times than a cheap prostitute over his political and business dealings, has the cheek to admonish these policeman.

They may or may not deserve censure, but not from Vaz, its a joke its only a matter of months that these same politicians were fiddling their expenses and stuffing their own pension provision’s while many workers in the private sector were loosing theirs.

Politicians, after been kicked and ridiculed by the general public over their fiddling, now have the opportunity to kick the police and newspaper journalists where it hurts.
Its a form of retribution and politicians are in ecstasy, it certainly seems so.

I just cant take this seriously.

This is the BR 740 a good round baler apart from weak pick up reel which has let this baler down time and time again.

After you have taken off and put back all these segments you are well and truly fed up, especially when you have crops to bale.

The pick up bar that carries the tines is very weak, to replace this bar requires a lot of work.
Try to avoid a dealer replace the bar because they use a windy gun to tighten up the bolts on the segments and end up stripping the threads.
Only undo with windy gun.
Tighten with a small ratchet to avoid stripping threads, its a pain but well worth it in the end.

This looks like a faulty weld when manufactured.

A new bar costs £135 which is a lot of money, even more if you have a dealer fix the damn thing.

The International Red Cross on Wednesday acknowledged what anyone not taken in by anti-Israel propaganda has known for some time: that there is no humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with the Israeli army spokesman, Mathilde Redmatn, deputy director of the Red Cross in Gaza, clearly declared for all those willing to listen that there "is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza."

"If you go to the supermarket, there are products. There are restaurants and a nice beach," noted Redmatn.

But Redmatn did go on to criticize Israel for maintaining a partial embargo on certain goods, such as cement, which can and has been used by terrorist forces to build bunkers.

"Israel has the legitimate right to protect the civilian population, [but] this right should be balanced with the right of 1.5 million people living in the Gaza Strip," said Redmatn. "...difficulties in importing building materials [has] hampered sustainable economic recovery and dashed any hope of leading a normal and dignified life."

Israelis would argue that a territory that elects terrorists as its leaders and then facilitates the launching of thousands of missiles at a neighboring territory has forfeited the right to a "normal and dignified life."

Redmatn also slammed Hamas and its terrorist allies for continuing to fire missiles and mortar shells at Israeli civilians in southern Israel.

But, despite the reality, painting Gaza as a squalor-filled prison is just too good a propaganda tool for most to give up.

A few brave journalists over the past few years have bucked the media trend of portraying Gaza as the most destitute place on earth, and have provided written and photographic evidence that Gaza is not nearly as bad off as most reports make it out to be.

Last year, National Post reporter Tom Gross lambasted his colleagues in the international media for focusing solely on those parts of Gaza that are impoverished in a deliberate attempt to suggest that the entire region lives that way, because of Israeli security measures.

"We could produce the same effect by selectively filming seedy parts of Paris and Rome and New York and Los Angeles, too," Gross wrote at the time.

Even Hamas has admitted that there is no Israeli-created starvation in Gaza.

"There is no starvation in Gaza. No one has died of hunger," Khalil Hamada, a senior official at Gaza's Ministry of Justice, told London's Daily Telegraph last year.

The claim, reiterated by Redmatn, that Israel is not allowing enough building materials into Gaza is also dubious.

In November, Gaza Housing Minister Yousef Alamanti confirmed to United Press International that construction had been started on a massive high-rise apartment project. The project includes three apartment buildings with a total of 25,000 apartments, a mosque, playground, shopping center and schools.

It is difficult to understand how such an expansive project could be built if Israel is not letting Gazans get their hands on even basic building materials.

The truth revealed by all of these acknowledgements and reports is that Gaza is not under siege. Yes, Israel is closely monitoring and restricting the entry of certain goods in order to limit the terrorists' capabilities. But the influx of goods into a territory that is actively engaged in terrorist warfare against the civilians of its neighboring territory is unprecedented in Gaza.

A SENIOR Hamas official last night made a rare appeal to the Israeli public to halt escalating fighting, telling a radio station in Hebrew that the group was ready to stop its rocket fire if Israel ends its attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The attacks were touched off by the demolition of an Israeli school bus by an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza. Most of the children had just been dropped off, but the one student still aboard was critically wounded.

A Hamas official later said "it was not known that the bus carried schoolchildren". Israeli officials said the bus, painted bright yellow, was on its daily rounds, clearly visible from Gaza.

Israel's newly deployed anti-rocket system, Iron Dome, was reported to have downed eight of the Katyusha rockets fired at the cities of Ashkelon and Beersheba -- a success that reportedly surprised even military officials.

The Israeli-developed system is the first in the world to successfully interdict short-range rockets mid-flight. Officials warned, however, that the system was still in a running-in period and that it could not provide hermetic protection.

Mounting rocket attacks by Hamas in recent weeks have led to calls by residents of Israeli towns in the area for another massive ground attack on Gaza. However, if the Iron Dome system can provide a sense of security, a ground operation is unlikely.

Jerusalem would prefer not having the Arab world, presently in turmoil, seize on an Israeli incursion into Gaza to achieve unity by rallying against Israel. In particular, Israel does not want to endanger its still tentative relations with the new military regime in Egypt.

Hamas has in recent months begun to use powerful, long-range anti-tank missiles acquired from Iran against Israeli military vehicles on the fringe of the Gaza Strip. Two months ago, Israel deployed tanks equipped with a newly developed anti-missile system capable of detonating incoming missiles before they hit.

One Israeli official said the ensuing frustration might have led Hamas to target the school bus.
In an air attack on a car on Saturday night, a leader of Hamas's military wing, Tayser Abu Snima, 29, was killed. Israel says he had been involved in the capture five years ago of Gilad Shalit, who is still being held in Gaza.

He taunted UK higher education institutions for their connection to Middle East dictatorships. He joked acidly that he blamed the British for the unrest in the Middle East as they had been responsible for educating Saif al Islam, the son of Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi and Bashar al-Assad of Syria.

He added that although government relations were good between the two countries, he was worried that relations between the two peoples were less positive.

On Thursday evening, a Qassam rocket exploded in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council. At around 4:30 am, Palestinians fired another Qassam, this time at the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. A blast was heard in the area, although the rocket landed near the Palestinian side of the border fence. There were no reports of injuries or damage in both incidents.

The escalation in the south follows the assassination of two senior members of the al-Qaeda affiliated Army of Islam group by the Israel Defense Forces earlier this month.

Abu Mujahed, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza, said that "the firing by Palestinian organizations from the Gaza Strip is part of our right to respond to the Israeli crimes and the recent assassinations."

According to Abu Mujahed, "The rocket fire is a response to the crimes against our people. it is clear to us that today Army of Islam members are being hurt, and tomorrow it will be us and then another organization."

A source affiliated with Army of Islam noted that the group members had gone into hiding, fearing for their safety. The source told the London-based Arabic-language al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper that the activists were taking strict precautions, were not seen in public, and avoided using any communication devices for fear of being followed.

I phone update: This software update seems to have solved my proximity sensor problems when making a phone call. It used to either drop calls or mute or put on hold when my ear touched the buttons, very annoying. I had to make the excuse that I had just got a new phone and was not used to it.

Update on the i phone bluetooth problem. The i phone 4 can not discover the bluetooth keyboard when my Mac book pro has bluetooth enabled. As soon as you switch it off, i phone can connect to the remote keyboard. Weird or what.

Pairing the Apple wireless keyboard could be a problem.

It is hard to connect to a bluetooth device with iphone 4. But its still a great device.

The keyboard is now connected. After switching all bluetooth devices off and then switching them back on, the I phone 4 suddenly discovered the keyboard, a blue dialogue box appears and tells you to put in a key number on the keyboard it then becomes paired. Simples. You have to remember that when the bluetooth is on it renders the keyboard on the i phone redundant.

Notice the bluetooth symbol turns blue when connected.

The Blue tooth on I phone 4 just does not kick in. See picture below, it can not detect the wireless keyboard. Or in fact any other blue tooth device.

The small southern Lebanese village of Adeesa is not known as a place journalists hang out in in case something happens. So it's curious that several Lebanese reporters, cameramen and photographers were there with the Lebanon Army before Tuesday's shooting match with Israel.

The Israelis often cut down/trim the trees at that location of the border as it is high ground and gives them a clear line of sight down into the Lebanese villages. On Tuesday, the IDF Tree Surgeons Brigade, or whatever it is called, as is usual, informed the UN of plans to clear trees on their side. This was at 0600 and the job would begin at 0900.

The UN requested a delay to prepare their monitoring force, told the Lebanese Army of the timings, and the clearing began at 11.00.

The United Nations has made clear that the Israelis were operating on their own side of the border, and frequently conduct brush clearing and tree felling. This has always been watched by the Lebanese Army, usually without incident.

The Israeli media were either unaware of Tuesday routine plans or didn't deem them newsworthy - 'IDF cuts down tree again shock!' would have been trimmed by the editor.

But, across the border by 11.00 the Lebanese media had gathered to film this routine event. Which begs the question; Why?

One of them paid with his life,killed by Israeli fire, another was shot in the leg. At least 3 Lebanese soldiers died as did a senior Israeli officer.

There is no proof that someone on the Lebanese side tipped the media off that a routine operation was about to turn into a major incident which someone wanted to be filmed. But it's quite a coincidence. You Bet!
